Joybug

The Joybug Journey

Joybug, the 1974 Argosy, has been a passion project for Anj for over seven years. From the beginning, she dove headfirst into the rebuild, learning as she went. Like many restoration stories, there were bumps along the way—while she did much of the work herself, a few of the people she brought in to help didn’t have the best intentions, which set her back more than once.

Throughout the process, Anj would reach out with questions, and I was always happy to help however I could. When she got to the cabinetry phase and things didn’t work out with a local carpenter, she gave us a call. We decided to take the project on together—her vision, our shop's skills, and a bit of creative freedom on our end.

At first, I wasn’t sure how her mix of materials would come together—Black Walnut, Ambrosia Maple, Brass, Aluminum, Rose Gold, Copper, and even Mother of Pearl. But she had a clear vision, and she trusted us to bring it to life. Now that Joybug is nearly complete, I can say without a doubt—it works. Every piece feels intentional, and together they create something truly unique. It’s been an honor to help bring her dream to life.
